🔪 A Mysterious Hotel Murder

Susie and Greg Fleniken were a middle-aged couple from Louisiana. Greg ran a successful company and often travelled for work, which meant the couple spent their weekdays apart. It wasn’t a perfect situation, but whenever the weekend came, they were happy to be together again.

Over the years, the couple got into the habit of texting each other every day while Greg was away. One day, when Susie was doing her taxes, she sent him a text to tell him how everything was going. When he replied, she had no idea it was the last time she would ever hear from him. Later, she tried to call Greg, but he didn’t answer. He didn’t even call her back the next day, which was very unusual. Susie was worried. During the fifteen years they had been married, this had never happened before.

Very worried, Susie reached out to Greg’s co-workers. To her horror, she learned that they hadn’t heard from him either. Later that day, they forced their way into his hotel room and found Greg lying dead on the floor. There were no signs of a fight, no forced entry, and nothing had been stolen. Everything suggested that Greg had died of natural causes.

After the first autopsy, the investigators received surprising news. Because of several internal injuries, the medical examiner believed that Greg had been murdered. It later turned out that the original autopsy had missed a bullet hole. A bullet had hit Greg’s groin, entered his body, and damaged his organs. Who shot Greg? How did it happen? Why did someone want to kill him? Nobody knew the answers.

The case wasn’t solved until a few months later, when a private investigator named Ken Brennan joined the investigation. While searching the room where Greg had stayed, he noticed a strange mark on the wall. After looking at it more carefully, investigators discovered that a bullet had gone through the wall and that someone had tried to hide the hole.

It didn’t take long to find the killer. When the police questioned the people staying in the neighbouring room again, the room from which the bullet had come, one of them, Timothy Steinmetz, told the police that his co-worker had fired the shot. The killer was Lance Mueller. That night, everyone in the room had been drinking. Lance, who carried a gun, took it out and started handling it carelessly. The gun accidentally went off and fired a bullet through the wall. On the other side was Greg, standing in the wrong place at the wrong time. Mueller was sentenced to 11 years in prison. He admitted his guilt.
